Needham Bank Chairman, President and CEO Joseph P. Campanelli receives Distinguished Citizen Award from BSA Spirit of Adventure Council

The Ralph Lowell Distinguished Citizen Award recognizes citizens who personify key values of Scouting such as good citizenship and dedication to others.

Needham Bank Chairman, President and CEO Joseph P. Campanelli received the Ralph Lowell Distinguished Citizen Award from Boy Scouts of America at a ceremony hosted by the Boy Scouts’ Spirit of Adventure Council on June 4 at the Boston Harbor Hotel.

The Distinguished Citizen Award recognizes citizens who personify key values of Scouting such as good citizenship, dedication to others and maintaining a strong moral fiber. Campanelli is a long-time supporter of the Boy Scouts of America and an advocate for the positive impact Scouting has on the lives of more than one million young Americans every year.

“It’s a great honor to be recognized by an organization that has had such a profound impact on our nation’s youth. The Scouting program instills strong leadership skills, community, and service to others – some of the values I’ve tried to espouse and reinforce throughout my career,” said Campanelli. “I’m proud to say that at Needham Bank, we try hard to live those principles every day in how we do business, interact with customers, and conduct ourselves as corporate citizens.”

The Distinguished Citizen Award ceremony was hosted by the Scouts’ Spirit of Adventure Council, which is the largest Boy Scouts of America Council in Massachusetts. Spirit of Adventure serves 76 communities in Greater Boston and on the North Shore, with more than 7,500 boys and girls participating in Scouting in those communities. The Council’s Scouting programs benefit from the efforts of 4,300 adult volunteers.

In addition to Campanelli, the Boy Scouts also recognized Pamela Everhart, Senior VP, Regional Public Affairs and Community Relations for Fidelity Investments, as a Distinguished Citizen Award recipient.

“When organizations have shared values, it makes it that much more rewarding to be supportive of one another,” Campanelli said. “We’re incredibly proud at Needham Bank of the relationship we have with the Boy Scouts, and we look forward to the exciting things that lie ahead for Scouting in this region and nationwide
